Electrical Maintenance Testing and Engineering Services
Our testing and engineering service group, working in conjunction with Vertiv services, offers a complete line of electrical maintenance testing and engineering services.
Electrical Services and Testing
A comprehensive program of electrical services helps identify the root cause of system availability problems, avoid costly downtime, preempt emergency repairs, and maintain a safe operating environment.
Vertiv services offers a full range of electrical maintenance testing and engineering services designed to ensure optimal performance of your data center.
Benefits of Electrical Maintenance Testing
There are two primary benefits from implementing effective preventive maintenance in a facility:
1) Reduced costs of repairs and minimized or eliminated downtime.
2) Safety for personnel and prevention of property damage.
Positives in Developing an Electrical Testing Program
Electrical distribution equipment rarely fails without warning. It fails without warnings being noticed. Testing is how those conditions surface while they’re still maintenance items rather than outages. We provide electrical maintenance testing and engineering services to deliver the following outcomes:
Reliability: Find developing faults while they can still be scheduled around rather than responded to.
Safety for personnel and prevention of damage: Identifies conditions that create shock and arc flash hazards, and confirms protection devices will operate as designed.
Compliance: Produces the records that inspectors, insurers, and auditors ask for.
Cost control: Planned maintenance on a scheduled outage costs a fraction of emergency replacement during an unplanned one.
The equipment most facilities depend on most is also the equipment they examine least often. Testing is how you learn its condition without waiting for it to tell you.
Training and Safe Work Practices.
The technician performing periodic maintenance and service of electrical equipment should have a thorough understanding of the electrical field and should be trained and familiar with the equipment and systems they must maintain and work on. Qualified and trained personnel understand the construction and operation of equipment and installations, and they have safety training to recognize and avoid the hazards involved.
Both the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, define a qualified person the same way: someone with demonstrated skills and knowledge of the equipment involved, plus safety training to recognize and avoid its hazards.
Standards We Work To
Our testing and maintenance programs follow NFPA 70B, Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance, which became a standard with the 2023 edition and now carries mandatory language. Field work follows NFPA 70E for electrical safety, and acceptance and maintenance testing follows the NETA ATS and MTS specifications. Results are documented so your records hold up under inspection, insurance review, or audit.
